As the opening day of A-OSH EXPO 2017 draws near, this year’s exhibitors are finalising their plans to wow the 3,000 visitors from across Africa expected to attend the continent’s leading occupational safety and health show.
ppe2go: software system for PPE administration
ppe2go will feature new functionality added to its personal protective equipment (PPE) stock management software, aligned to the latest Code of Practice (COP) requirements from the Department of Mineral Resources specifically around women within the mining sector.
“Employees are now able to identify PPE stock items as male, female or unisex, and only the applicable PPE items will be available for the employee to select from, based on their gender,” explains Kerry Kyle of ppe2go. “Both the employee as well as the PPE stock item gender indicators are now visible throughout the entire module, from raising a requisition to approvals and also when issuing goods over the counter.”
In addition, the organisation will be taking visitors through the launch of its new ppe2go Mobile App, which – in keeping with global technology trends – provides an alternate platform for the management of PPE COP requirements via your smartphone or tablet.
Hands-on demos of the ppe2go system (including full kiosk functionality) will take place on stand D11 in Hall 3 for the duration of A-OSH EXPO.
A first for Africa
AfriSupply has launched the continent’s first fully compliant, portable polyethylene bunds (or spill decks) on stand A07 at A-OSH 2017, ideal for the holding and bunding of 1000L IBC Tanks, or alternately four 210L drums.
AfriSupply is Africa’s only local manufacturer of these products, and is able to bund a wide variety of hazardous materials, ranging from oil, diesel and fuel based products to solvents and aggressive chemicals such as acids and bases.
The AfriSupply spill decks are forklift friendly and a key advantage lies in their portability, as they can be moved anywhere on sites as required, particularly suited to environments such as temporary construction or mining sites.
Kevro, the largest and leading corporate clothing and promotional gifting wholesaler in Africa, will be exhibiting at A-OSH EXPO 2017 for the third consecutive year, showcasing its Barron workwear range

Keeping up with qualifications
UK-based examination board, NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) invites employers, potential students and training providers attending A-OSH EXPO 2017 to visit its stand (stand B4) to find out more about its globally recognised qualifications and the benefits they can bring.
“Due to continued demand for NEBOSH qualifications in Africa, we have once again decided to attend this year’s A-OSH EXPO,” explains Stuart Naylor, NEBOSH Director of Relationship Management. “We take great pride in the contribution our qualifications make towards safeguarding people and their futures in workplaces around the world.”
In keeping with this knowledge focus, Astutis, a global training and consultancy provider, will also be informing A-OSH attendees about its vibrant, interactive online learning and distance learning NEBOSH qualifications.
“As an internationally recognised independent body, NEBOSH offers some of the most sought health and safety qualifications globally, attracting over 35,000 learners per year,” says Astutis international sales manager, Joseph Large. “With increased mobility amongst employees working for multi-national companies, international qualifications are seen as key to setting corporate standards and establishing a level of health and safety competency, which can be transferred to workplaces around the world.
“Astutis is committed to helping clients create a positive health, safety and environmental culture and progress their professional development across the globe.”
