This was disclosed by the District Chief Executive of the area, David Kwasi Asare Boakye, during a sod cutting ceremony to tire all streets in Nkenkansu township through the support from the Central Government and the Member of Parliament for the area, Collins Ntim who also doubles as the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (MoLG&RD).
“The government through the District Assembly with the support of our Member of Parliament who is also the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LG&RD) Hon. Collins Ntim has planned to this year nurse over one million seedlings of cashew which will be distributed to farmers free of charge, which plans are far advance,” he stated.
The Chief Executive maintained that President Akufo-Addo’s industrialization drive of 1D1F requires appropriate raw materials base for the industries saying.
“We have so far successfully procured about ten bags of cashew seedlings to be distributed to about 30 communities for nursery exercise, I wish to urge our hard working farmers to take cashew farming serious as some Organization are poised to put money to support cashew production in the Districts,” he noted.
He expressed his greatest appreciation to the Honourable MP for his unflinching support given to the District by motivating and resourcing the farmers to engage themselves in the cashew business which will help Ghana to become the hub and a leading producer of cashew production in Africa in some 10 years to come with Offinso North leading in Ghana.
The DCE who was cheered as Adwumawura by the gathering disclosed that a new waterfall has been discovered at Asubima Forest which forms part of Ghana plantations in the Offinso North District at Akumadan, adding that the government through the Assembly is on the drawing board planning to make good use of the facility.
