The construction of the Diaso Mahama Community Day School began in October 2014 with the objective of replacing the outdated, old-fashioned, and structually-deficient SHS constructed by the erstwile Rawlings NDC administration in 1993.This was after far-reaching consultations had been done with chiefs, assembly members, and other stakeholders. Further to this, community to-community interactions agreed on the need for a new befitting Senior High School for Central Region’s most far flung District—Upper Denkyira West.
And so the Upper Denkyira West Assembly, having done all the necessary paper work; and having liaised with the Ministry of Education saw to the commencement of one of John Mahama’s 123 Community Day Schools, and its logical completion. His Excellency Commissioned it on 27 November 2016 at a massive gathering of Denkyira Chiefs and people.
As a corollary, this piece unremittingly posits that the call for the conversion of a carefully architectured Secondary School, fitted with 30 brand new computers, modern teaching and learning gadgets, over 900 pieces of quality students furniture; plus a host modern day fittings, is not only mischievous and shameful, but also, an accentuation of the retrogressive mentality of the Danquah -Busia tradition, from which this NPP government is ancestored.
We are pained by the fact that this retrogressive call was placed at the time when the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Duncan, had travelled along the John Mahama- constructed- 52 Kilometre-asphalted-Ayanfuri-
As has been echoed by many Denkyiras on the morning of Wednesday, October 25, 2017, the Mahama Day School in Diaso is a monument to Denkyira and must be utilised without any shred of shame.
In fact, on the same Mahama projects inspection tour, the minister was heard recommending that the Mahama Day School, commissioned and situated at Kyekyewere in Upper Denkyira East be used as barracks for soldiers in the ” Operation Vanguard” Galamsey exercise in the Denkyira enclave.
Again, we condemn this and pray for good conscience to talk hold of this incompetent Regional Minister as his actions are alien.
We conclude by stating what is already known, which is that this incapable Nana Addo- led NPP administration has not commenced a single infrastructure project in Upper Denkyira East and West for almost a year on assuming the reins of power ;and that if they cannot add on to existing ones, but will only inspect what the previous government did, they should not debase the intent for which they were constructed.
