Stakeholders meet over the birth of Ablekuma Municipal Assembly

A stakeholders’ meeting has been held on to sensitize and educate the people of Ablekuma Central Constituency on the birth of Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly, the role of the Assembly and the modalities for the preparation of the Assembly’s Action Plan. The event took place at the conference room of *Lord’s Wembley Plus in Ablekuma Central Constituency. The meeting also aimed to solicit views from the participants on the methodology to be used by the Assembly to prepare its work plan.

Present at the meeting were *Hon Dr. Lord Oblittey Commey, Director of Operations at the Presidency, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Hon Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh Nartey, the Mayor of Accra, Sub-metro Chairman, Heads of Department in AMA, Assembly Members, Nananom, Political parties representatives and some residents of Ablekuma Central Constituency.

In a welcoming address, Ebenezer Nartey thanked the stakeholders for honouring the visitation even though the notice was short. He then introduced the Director of Operations at the Presidency to brief the gathering on the purpose for the meeting.

Dr. Lord Commey said the essence of the gathering was to announce the coming into being of Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly* and ways to enhance the local government system as well as deepen Ghana’s democracy. He reiterated that we have a lot of Municipalities to look up to and learn from should we face some challenges.

The returning officer of the Electoral Commission in charge of Ablekuma Central Constituency, Boateng was also present to brief the house on the boundaries and demarcations of the Ablekuma Central Municipality.

The proposed logo for the new municipality was unveiled by Dr. Oblittey Commey, with explanations on the symbols on the emblem. He also gave participants the opportunity to make inputs.

The invited guest, The Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah also seized the opportunity to enlighten the stakeholders on the avenues and the numerous job opportunities the municipality comes with.

The Chiefs, Party reps and other stakeholders expressed their profound gratitude for being included in the planning and decision making process. They expressed their optimism about the Municipality as a sign of better things to come to Ablekuma Central Constituency.
