We of Strategic Thinkers Network Africa received with outmost shock the revelation made by the President of the Republic of Ghana H E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on his maiden address at the just ended United Nations 72nd General Assembly on Thursday the 21st of September, 2017.

The statement by the president clearly shows a breach of our Constitution Article 75 per the recent interpretation of the apex court of the land in the case of the Gitmo prisoners agreement the previous NDC government had with the then government of the United States of America and more also how it has been shrouded in secrecy.

The president stated “Three weeks ago, highly-enriched uranium was flown out of Ghana back to China, signaling the end of the removal of all such material from the country. Our nuclear reactor has, subsequently, been converted to use low-enriched fuel for power generation. A world, free of nuclear weapons, must be in all our collective interest.”

Considering the recent Supreme Court decision with regards to the mentioned case in paragraph two, the decision that necessitated this agreement ought to have received Parliamentary ratification if not for anything but all before handing over our highly-enriched uranium to the Chinese.

We hereby ask government to submit to Parliament and the people of Ghana the full details and true nature of the agreement with the Chinese government and reason why America decided to fund this repatriation.

We shall pursue this very important and shocking revelation in the spirit of transparency and good governance in alliance with the view taken by the apex court of our beloved country, Ghana.
