Tarkwa ready to host National COSRA sports festival

The University of Mines and Technology, UMaT, Tarkwa in the Sekondi/Takoradi Diocese is ready to play host to the 2017 National Sports festival of the Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA).

According to the National President of COSRA, Mavis Agatha Abla Ekpe all that is needed for the successful hosting of the tournament has been instituted.

She urged leaders of the group at all levels especially Diocesan leaders to marshal their members to Tarkwa for the games which promises to be full of fun, socialization and networking.

The President of the host Diocese, Sekondi/Takoradi, Eben Kpodo assured of the readiness of the Diocese to host all COSRANS from across the country.

The 2017 National COSRA Sports Festival is on the theme: “Sports; a medium for showing the Great things the Mighty one has done for me, Luke 1:49″.

Some of the disciplines for the event include football, volleyball, sack race, lime & spoon, tug of peace, eating competition, cultural displays and many more.

Guests who expected to grace the occasion includes; Hon Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Lawyer Richard Akpokavie, President of Ghana Olympic Committee, Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Hon George Mireku Duker, Hon Gabriel Kennedy Asmah Municipal Chief Executive of Tarkwa-Nsuaem and Nana Kwabena Ango, Apintohene.

The rest are National Chaplain of the Ghana National Youth Council (GHANCYC) Rev Fr Emmanuel Acheampong, Chairman of GHANCYC, Emmanuel Bissue among several others.

The event would be chaired by Bishop of theSekondi/Dioces, Most Rev John Bonaventure-Kwofie.

About eight hundred (800) members of COSRA from all Catholic Dioceses in the country are expected to attend the social gathering scheduled for 3-6 August, 2017 at the University of Mines and Technology Tarkwa.
