Network for Assin Development (NAD), a development oriented group is calling on the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to as a matter of urgency sack all Heads of Basic and Senior High Schools in the Assin District of the Central Region for their inability to give sex education to students in their respective schools culminating in the increase of teenage pregnancies in the area.
Kwame Adobah, the Convener of the group told GhanaNewsOnline.com.gh that per what is happening in the area with regards to teenage pregnancy, the teachers have woefully failed the people of Assin and Ghana, hence they must resign or be sacked.
He said “We believe it is important for teachers to instill in students the habit of sex education to reduce the menace of teenagers’ getting pregnant indiscriminately.
We are calling on all stakeholders including the District Chief Executives, Municipal Chief Executives and the Minister responsible for Gender, Children and Social Protection to collaborate and curb the menace.”
The Convener of the group also appealed to all relevant stakeholders in the upbring of children including opinion leaders and faith based organizations to assist in controlling the menace in the Assin area.
Mr. Adobah opined that parents who failed in their parental responsibility must be arrested and face the wrath of the law.
