The Acting President of the Anum Traditional Council, Nana Kwasi Anyane II, has charged the citizens of Anum to rise and contribute their quota towards the development of the Anum Community.

The Acting President who is also the Adontenhene of the Anum Traditional Area made this call while addressing the Chiefs and People of the area during the lunch of the Rebirth of Anum organised by the Council’s Advisory Committee.

The Rebirth, which is aimed at uplifting the current status of the community will see the construction of an ultramordern palace for the Omanhene, the construction of a modern Hospital and a Sports Complex, among others.

“Today we as a community are lunching the rebirth of our motherland, this means we are taken a new approach in every thing we think, plan and do. Let’s welcome this initiative and contribute our quota towards the development of our community,” Nana Kwasi Anyane appealed.

He stated that, “there are many things we need as a community, our road network from Asikuma through Anum to Boso to Dzamani is not in good shape, Our Omanhene palace needs some attention, we also need a community hospital to address the health issues in and around our community to minimize the current pressure on the Volta River Authority Hospital in Akosombo which is the only Hospital in the district. We also need a befitting sports complex to develop the sports talents in our area”.

Nana Kwasi Anyane II emphasized that the government although doing it’s best to develop the country can not do everything, which is why the community has to support by Self Help Projects (SHPs). It was his believe that the Anum community will rally behind the advisory committee to see positive changes in Anum.

The Member of Parliament for the Asuogyaman Constituency, Thomas Ampem Nyarko – a native of Anum, cautioned the leadership of the Advisory Committee to use funds judiciously since that has been the bane behind under developed communities.

Trying to explain why churches are able to raise more funds to work on their church activities than the community the MP said “I most at time ask myself why should Pentecost, Presby, Anglican, Methodist and other Churches easily raise funds to support their projects than the community in which all these church members live. It is difficult for people to contribute towards community development.

“It is because we believe in the structures of the church than the community, we know when we pay a pesewa towards a church project that pesewa will be used for it’s intended purpose but in the community you will always contribute but will still be where we are without any change, which is very bad. I pray this time around the organising Committee will be accountable to the people of Anum”.

Thomas Ampem Nyarko appealed to the citizens both at home and abroad to contribute immensely to see a brighter Anum. This was after he donated an amount of Ghc 5000.00. to support the project.

On his part the Former Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority (GPHA), Paul Asare Ansah, who also donated an amount of Ghc 5000.00, congratulated the Chiefs and people of the community for taking such initiatives to uplift the image of Anum Community which he believes will bring development to the district as a whole.

The projects which is to be completed within five years will be financed with a flat levy of One Hundred Ghana Cedis per adult of the Anum Citizen.
