The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), on July 1, celebrated 300 senior citizens (aged) whose contributions have helped in the development of the Harbour City.

Senior Citizens’ Day is an annual event held across the country, and at the TMA forecourt, A.B. Crentsil, one of Ghana’s ‘Old School’ legends in music, got the aged boogying to a couple of his renditions.

Present to grace the occasion were Daniel Titus Glover, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East, and Kofi Brako, MP for Tema Central.

Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, who is the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, said though the senior citizens had retired, they should not be tired of offering advice to the present youth and his administration.

The youth, the MCE advised, should revere the elderly so that when they too age, they would be served and respected.

In the vision of the Tema Restoration Agenda, the TMA pledged to tap in the knowledge of the senior citizens, whose contributions helped in the building of Tema, which, today, has slums and is inundated with floods and filth.
