UMaT and Surveyors sign MoU on collaboration

University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa and the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LISAG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish scholarly, academic and professional links between the two bodies.

The agreement is also to encourage consultancy, research, multidisciplinary industrial training, promotion of scholarship towards the training and human resource development between LISAG and UMaT.

A document signed by the two revealed that the bases for the partnership is to ensure that UMaT provides personnel as resource persons at conferences, seminars, and other training programmes organised by LISAG and also allow LISAG to use UMaT as the training institution for LISAG members in the catchment area.

The institutions according to the document accepted to offer assistance in identification and selection of potential graduate trainees and/or interns from UMaT for LISAG across the country.

Again, both bodies will assist in provision of practical training for Geomatic students of UMaT at the facilities of LISAG, joint evaluation of graduates, ‘interns’ and students performances by LISAG and Geomatic Department of UMaT during internships as well as designing short courses and/or training programmes for the members of LISAG toupgrade the manpower requirements of LISAG.

“Any dispute arising between the parties in request of this MoU shall be amicably resolved by consultation and discussion between both parties. If this arrangement fails then matter shall be referred to Sector Minister for arbitration and each shall bear its cost of arbitration” it stressed.

However, parties have agreed projects embarked upon may be continued or abrogate by mutual consent.
