The attention of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has been drawn to a circulation on social media of a shipment of DANA RICE purported to have been imported from Pakistan and with a claim that the rice is infested with a virus.
The FDA, in a press release signed by its Chief Executive Officer Delese A. A. Darko, and copied to ghananewsonline.com.gh, said the the Authority has not registered any product with such a name.
The release said, preliminary investigations and Market Surveillance so far conducted by the FDA have indicated that the product is not on the Ghanaian market.
It also said, the FDA has however intensified its Surveillance activities across the country (markets, ports and borders) to ensure the product does not find its way onto the Ghanaian market.
Meanwhile, the FDA would like to entreat the general public to verify from the Authority, any information relating to the FDA’s mandate before circulating/forwarding such information on social media.
