The youth wing of the Abudu royal family in the Dagbon chieftaincy deadlock has accused some government appointees of siding with the regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Andani in the roadmap to the peace process.
The National president of the youth wing, Alhaji Mugisu Sibawey, at a press conference in Yendi fingered the defense minister, Dominic Nitiwul and the National security minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah of being the regent’s cohorts in the NPP government.
According to him due to the powers vested in the regent, he refused to vacate part of the old Gbewaa palace during the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mohammadu Abdullai. This according to him was a clear violation of the roadmap to peace by the three eminent chiefs.
“He did so because for over twelve years he has flouted the CEC directives by enskining chiefs and selling Dagbon lands, left-right-center, against the dictates of the roadmap to peace, He is even more emboldened to disregard everybody this time because we are quite aware some government officials are in bed with him”.
Mr. Mugisu pride the Abudu royal family of tolerance and peace crusaders.
“The peaceful manner we have organized the funeral shows how ready and compromising we are towards a peaceful and united Dagbon. Even when some of our sympathizers were beaten by the thugs of Kampakuya Naa and sympathizers and hospitalized, we still restrained our members from any vindictive endeavor. We did so because we are law-abiding and because we respect our elders so much, not because we are cowards or we cannot be tamed by the elders of our gate”.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY ABUDU YOUTH ON RECENT DEVELOPMENT SURROUNDING THE FUNERAL OF THE LATE YAA NAA YAKUBU ANDANI – Dated 1st January, 2019 and Held here in Yendi
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, I will want to first of all thank you for honouring our invitation. Our press conference is occasioned by some recent unpleasant matters that do not augur well for the current peace process Dagbong is embarking upon.
Ladies and gentlemen, we the Abudu Youth would first of all want to thank all well-meaning sympathizers of the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV for the love and kind gestures shown in pouring out in our numbers and contributing our quotas in the funeral of His Majesty, the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV from 14th to 28th December, 2018. The peaceful manner we have organized the funeral shows how ready and compromising we are towards a peaceful and united Dagbong. Even when some of our sympathizers were beaten by the thugs of the Kampakuya Naa and hospitalized, we still restrained our members from any vindictive endeavour. We did so because we are law abiding and because we respect our elders so much, not because we are cowards or we cannot get harebrained people who cannot be tamed by the elders of our gate. Our sincere respect goes to the people of the Dagbong Kingdom for their tenacity, fortitude and commitment all this while, to the full realization of PEACE and total restoration of the sanctity of the Dagbong Kingdom.
Ladies and gentlemen, we do not intend to bore you with a recount of our journey thus far, but it is important we remind ourselves on some of the painful decisions and tardy progress we have made as a family in compliance with the tenets of the Roadmap to Peace Agreement. As a family ie. The Abuduyili, we can pride ourselves of having been the most tolerant and compliant in strictly abiding by the dictates of all Judiciary and Quasi-judiciary Decisions relating to our disagreement with our brothers from the Andaniyili. Albeit, in some instances, we have had to either prompt the mediation team or protest to certain disregard of major provisions of the Roadmap to Peace; which in many cases were treated with kids-gloves or totally ignored by both Government and the CEC.
It must be recalled that, the Kampakuya Naa was supposed to have vacated the Temporal Palace, popularly called “Anapuuna”, before the performance of the funeral of the late Ya Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV commences at the Gbewaa Palace but the Kampakuyaa Naa paid deaf ears, in open flagrance of the directive of the CEC with impunity. He did so because for over twelve years he has flouted the CEC directives by enskining chiefs and selling Dagbong lands, left-right-center, against the dictates of the Roadmap to Peace. He is even more emboldened to disregard everybody this time because we are quite aware some government officials are in bed with him. We are fully aware the Defence Minister, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul and the National Security Minister, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaa are some of his main operatives in the NPP Government.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media, we have gathered rather painfully, that while we continue to work toward lasting peace, the Andanis continue to preach violence. There are too many clear signals which I will let you the media and the world know here and now;
Firstly, rumors are rife and coming from some of the Andanis that the Kuga Naa has planned to enskin the Kampakuya Naa as Yaa Naa. WE WILL WANT THE SECURITY TO BE AWARE THAT IF THEY ALLOW THE KUGA NAA AND A SECTION OF THE ANDANIS TO COME CLOSE TO THE ROYAL MAUSOLEUM TO DO THIS INCONCIEVABLE ACT, WE WILL LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW THAT WE ARE REALLY THE POWERFUL LIONS OF DAGBONG. The Kuga Naa must be told his role in the committee of kingmakers of Dagbon. He is a mere messenger who acts under the Gusheinaa’s directive. We are not therefore astounded that they are scheming to enskin a Gusheinaa, when the funeral of the late Gusheinaa Bawa Yakubu is not yet performed. Once we, the compromising Abuduyili and sympathizers, agreed to perform the funeral of the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV without our concerns being addressed by the CEC, one of them being the performance of outstanding funerals including Gusheigu, we will RESIST any attempt by the Kampakuya Naa’s section of the Andani Family to do so. WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS EQUALLY GOOD FOR THE GANDER. The Kampakuya Naa must be reminded that it was the same way his father, the late Naa Yakubu disrespected MUSEC directive, used the then Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani and Lawyer Ibrahim Mahama, to lift the curfew that was imposed on Yendi on Sunday 24th March 2002 to forestall the three-day skirmishes that ensued between 25th to 27th March 2002. He did so because he believed he had assembled all ammunitions and trained all warriors he needed to attack the Bolinlana and the Abuduyili. We thank God we stood up defiantly in self-defense.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, on Sunday the 30th day of December 2018, the Andani Family held a meeting at the Temporary Palace. We have been taken aback to an audio and a video recordings of all that transpired at that meeting. It is sad that the Andani Family will take such an implausible decision of attempting to ask for a relocation of the reigning regent of Dagbong, Bolinlana Abdulai Mahamadu. We are even told they won’t perform the funeral of the late Naa Yakubu if Bolinlana is not relocated. It is totally strange for them to attempt to use their “new custom” as a bait to refuse to perform their funeral. How can anyone suggest that the ‘Dugu’, ‘Gundonaa’, and ‘Yeni Limam’ are to be accommodated in that Palace? In any case, which of the Palaces of the Royal Assistants (Namoglinsi) was handed over to the Abudu Family during the funeral of Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV? Have we asked where the Tolon, Nanton, Diyeri, Kumlana and other chiefs and regents, as well as Mba Malli, the Gundonaa, and Yeni Limam were housed during the funeral of Yaa Naa Mahamadu? How can they expect this time to be handed over these palaces which were denied the Abudu Family during the funeral of his Majesty the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV?
Ladies and gentlemen of the Press, the Bolinlana as Regent of Dagbong accepted to move to the house he is currently residing for the sake of peace and for the fact that Dagbong is not in normal times. If we must follow real custom, a Regent of Dagbong upon performance of the final funeral rite of a Yaa Naa would normally and immediately be enskinned. He doesn’t go out of the Gbewa Palace until his enskinment. The Andanis must be reminded that if they really want to follow Dagbong custom then the late Naa Yakubu has no funeral since he died in a war, like that of his grandfather, Tugulan Yiri, and the Bolinlana automatically would have assumed the skin of Dagbon as Yaa Naa. So take it from us that THE BOLINLANA IS NOT MOVING AN INCH.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are even much aware some of the thugs of the Kampakuya Naa are planning to attack the Bolinlana at his new residence. We the Abudu Youth would say less, but wish them welcome. They shouldn’t mistake our patience and law abiding attitude as cowardice.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, it must be borne in mind that during the installation of Kampaluya Naa as regent, our houses directly opposite the Temporal Palace were burnt by some Andanis, some of our sympathizers maimed, and their properties looted by those thugs. We want to make it clear that if such attempt is made this time, we will match them boot for boot.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, the Abudu Royal Family were handed over the Gbewaa Palace to perform the funeral of the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV from the 14th to 28th of December, 2018. We have respected every bit of the directive and handed over the Palace to the REGSEC on the 28th December 2018. We expect that the Andani family would also go by the same directive and leave the palace on the 18th January 2019. We expect the MUSEC, REGSEC and the CEC to enforce this directive without fear or favour, or else, hmmm!!!. Let me quote some of the maxims of equity here;
DELAY DEFEATS EQUITY
THOSE WHO SEEK EQUITY MUST DO EQUITY
EQUITY REGARDS AS DONE THAT WHICH OUGHT TO BE DONE
THOSE WHO SEEK EQUITY MUST COME WITH CLEAN HANDS.
Ladies and gentlemen, let those who have ears listen.
