1D1F: Keta Asembly palns Fertilizer, Cassava and Sugarcane juice factory

As part of the government’s initiative of making Ghana a hub of industries for job opportunities under its One District One Factory policy, the Keta Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region is set to boost fertilizer, cassava and sugarcane production.

This was revealed by the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Godwin Effah, during an encounter with the press at the Assembly’s maiden edition of the meet the press series held on Tuesday at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Keta.

According to the MCE who said he was honored to be accounting to the journalist for his stewardship of the New Patriotic Party led government for the thirty-four months in office, the municipality which he represents the president as the “the municipality has been considering a number of commodities of which they have comparative advantage to be used to fulfill the 1D1F policy”.

He indicated that “the Assembly has since settled on cassava and sugarcane juice factory as the two commodities which are grown on a large scale at Tsiame, Dorveme and it’s surrounding communities. In this regard we have agreed that cassava and sugarcane juice factories be established at Tsiame-Dorveme to process the two commodities which will be spearheaded by a private sector company”.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, another private company in fulfillment of the 1D1F policy has decided to build a fertilizer factory at Keta to boost agriculture in the Keta, Anloga and it’s adjoining communities. The Assembly has decided to allocate a piece of land for the project to take off early next year” he announced.

Godwin Effah highlighting on other areas of government policies stated that the Municipal Assembly has equally benefited from the national cake including the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJ), Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), Nation Builders Corps which the Assembly received 200 trainees, adding that the assembly under the school feeding program has enrolled 18 basic schools across the municipality with 6782 beneficiaries served with one hot meal daily.

with regards to the One million dollars per constituency each year policy the MCE applaud the President through the Coastal Development Authority (CODA) who’s mandate it is to provide and close infrastructure gaps in the communities living along the coast of the Atlantic ocean from Western Region to Ketu South in the Volta Region for addressing the infrastructure needs of the communities.

He stressed that the municipality through the IPEP program has constructed numerous classroom blocks with ancillary facilities, roads and bridges, across the municipality as well as the purchase of a tractor with ancillary facilities for agriculture purpose and the construction of a magistrate court at Abor.

It is obvious that the Keta Municipal Assembly has spent about 90% of it’s resources on education related projects with the expectation that it will help improve and raise the standard of teaching and learning in the municipality.
