2020 Elections: NDC exposes EC’s dishonesty over gazetted parliamentary results
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has exposed the Electoral Commission’s (EC) dishonesty over the gazetted parliamentary results published on December 22, 2020 by the Assembly Press in Accra.
The party on Tuesday purchased one of the gazetted results to enable it to challenge some of the constituency results like Techiman South among others that appeared to be flawed, fictitious and fraudulent.
Addressing journalists, the National Youth Organizer of the party, George Opare Addo, popularly known as “Pablo” who purchased the results on behalf of the party condemned the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa for dishonestly backdating the gazetted results on to December 22, 2020.
He said instead of the EC chair, Jean Mensa to use the appropriate date for publication of the gazetted results, she rather chose to backdate it to favour some interested parties.
According to him, the party approached the Assembly Press on the 24th of December, 2020 to procure a copy of the gazetted parliamentary results but was told by its staff that no such document exist.

“But, from that day 24th till now 28th of December, we just had a copy of the document that looked backdated. We all know when something is gazetted, it should be available to the public immediately. Therefore this document does not present the true fact of the results of the election.
“We kept on telling the good people of Ghana that the EC Chair, Jean Mensa is dishonest including the President, Nana Akufo-Addo because we all see the mess they have created for this country during and after the elections,” he said
He urged Ghanaians to be cautious during elections and appointments and make sure to choose the best, responsible, and good citizens for such positions that would not dent the image, integrity, and competence of that institution in the country.
He pointed out that the NDC has gathered enough evidence to challenge the gazetted results at the court in the upcoming days.
