2024 Elections: An opportunity to choose between Mahama “the Nation-Builder” and Bawumia “the Failed Economist” – Sammy Gyamfi

"President Mahama left Ghana with a stable B- credit rating and a sustainable economy. Meanwhile, Bawumia, who prides himself as an economist, has led us into economic freefall, borrowing excessively and eroding our financial stability,"

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has framed the upcoming elections as a decisive moment for Ghana’s future, presenting voters with a stark choice between economic stability under H.E. John Dramani Mahama and financial mismanagement under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Addressing a press conference, Gyamfi underscored the importance of peaceful elections, describing them as a turning point for a country grappling with severe economic challenges. He accused the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration of plunging Ghana into economic turmoil through excessive borrowing and poor governance.

“This election is not just about politics; it’s about choosing between two futures,” Gyamfi asserted. “A future led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, a proven nation-builder who stabilized the economy, or one dictated by Alhaji Bawumia, whose reckless borrowing has left Ghana on the brink of bankruptcy.”

Gyamfi touted Mahama’s track record, highlighting his tenure’s achievements, including a stable credit rating, sustainable debt levels, and robust economic buffers. In contrast, he painted a grim picture of the current administration’s legacy, claiming it has burdened Ghanaians with unprecedented hardships.

“President Mahama left Ghana with a stable B- credit rating and a sustainable economy. Meanwhile, Bawumia, who prides himself as an economist, has led us into economic freefall, borrowing excessively and eroding our financial stability,” Gyamfi argued.

Calling on Ghanaians to rally behind the NDC, Gyamfi portrayed Mahama as the leader capable of restoring hope and stability. “This election is a choice for a reset, a chance to rebuild, and an opportunity to bring back competent leadership to steer the country from its current challenges,” he concluded.

As the political temperature rises, Gyamfi’s sharp rhetoric sets the stage for what promises to be a highly charged electoral contest between the NDC and the NPP.
