This brings an end to Ghana’s medal chase and participation in the Olympics this year. None of the team of eight athletes won a medal unlike in the previous Olympics where boxer Samuel Takyi gave a glimmer of hope by bringing home a bronze.

Ghana’s representative in the 2024 Men’s Olympics 100m freestyle, Harry Stacey, dropped off after finishing Heat 4 under 51.12 seconds while Rose Yeboah, a high jumper, missed out on the finals after failure to clear the bar at 1.92m.

Also, sprinters Benjamin Azamati and Abdul Rasheed Saminu despite making it to the semi-finals respectively finished ninth and seventh in their separate heats, thereby failing to qualify for the final.
