The Mpraeso Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Adwoa Akyamaah Ofosu, has granted bail to the 27 individuals involved in the Abetifi chieftaincy dispute.
The 27, who were arrested for the alleged abduction of the Chief of Abetifi, had previously been denied bail two weeks ago.
However, following a plea from their lawyers, the court reconsidered the request and granted bail this time.
The accused persons were granted bail in the amount of GH¢200,000, with two sureties and one justification. They are scheduled to reappear before the court on December 19, 2024.
Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh, the lawyer representing the accused, commended the court’s decision, expressing satisfaction with the fair ruling.
“The law is working, and the judge has been fair, and I want to commend her. She listened to both sides and applied the law, and so I am happy that the 27 people have been admitted to court bail to reappear on December 19. Everything must be resolved in the courtroom, and there is no need for violence anywhere.”
