The Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Mrs. Grace Akrofi-Ansah, has announced that a total of 97 individuals have been arrested in connection with various incidents of violence, looting, and property destruction during and after the 2024 general elections. She stated this at a press conference today.

According to her, in one of the incidents, eight suspects were apprehended yesterday by the police SWAT team at the Metro Mass Transit workshop in the Bono Region. The individuals were reportedly involved in acts of vandalism.

Mrs. Akrofi-Ansah said the suspects unlawfully entered the Metro Mass premises and threatened workers, prompting the staff to swiftly call for police intervention.

The suspects, identified as Issakah Taufiq, Abudu Isaiah, Abdul Latif Mohammed, Abdulai Adams, Mohammed Azandoro, Alhassan Issah, and Amadou Mohammed, have been charged with unlawful invasion of the Metro Mass company.

The total number of arrests related to election-related incidents now stands at 97. The suspects are currently in police custody and undergoing investigations, she confirmed.

Mrs. Akrofi-Ansah reassured the public of the commitment of the police and other security agencies to maintaining peace and security within communities during this critical period. She urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.
