Assistant Coaches to Supervise Ghana-Nigeria U17 Clash amist Head Coach resignation
“He failed to attend the Team’s evening meeting with the Management Committee and has since not reported at the Team Hotel. The GFA duly accepts Laryea’s resignation.”
Jacob Nettey and Nana Agyemang will take the Black Starlets through training and supervise their game against the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in the 3rd place play-off in the WAFU ZONE B U17 qualifier on Tuesday.
This was announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a statement acknowledging and accepting the resignation letter of Laryea Kingston, the now former head coach of the team.
“For the 3rd place play-off match between Ghana and Nigeria scheduled for Tuesday, 28th May, 2024, the current Assistant Coaches will take charge of the team.”
Laryea Resignation
Laryea publicly served notice about his resignation on Friday, after his boys’ 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the WAFU ZONE B U17 qualifier Semifinal.
He is also reported to have notified the payers of his resignation using inappropriate language
The GFA has since taken offence in his action and accepted his resignation.
“Laryea Kingston’s decision has been supported by his subsequent actions.
Coach Kingston announced to the players and the coaching staff that he has resigned. He subsequently said same in his post-match Press Conference. Coach Kingston also got off the Team Bus whilst the team was on its way to the Team Hotel.
“He failed to attend the Team’s evening meeting with the Management Committee and has since not reported at the Team Hotel. The GFA duly accepts Laryea’s resignation.”
