Former Black Starlets head coach Laryea Kingston has admitted to his faults in how he resigned from the position a few days ago and has rendered an apology to the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Executive Council (ExCo).

Though he argued that his notice was without ambiguity, he conceded that he could gone about it appropriately.

Laryea announced his resignation on Saturday, May 25, 2024, after the team’s 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso who would eventually emerge as winners in WAFU ZONE B Competition.

The FA took offence in this as it disclosed he got off the Team Bus whilst the team was on its way to their hotel and failed to attend the team’s evening meeting with the Management Committee.

In response to these, the former Ghana International said his actions were informed by his resignation and was in no way meant to disrespect Ghanaians.

“I state unmistakably, that my announcement during the post-match press conference was without ambiguity that my role as coach with the team ends after the tournament. I will not conduct myself in anyway that undermines the respect and support Ghanaians have given me and this team.”

He thus apologized to the FA President and the ExCo for his action.

“To the President and the ExCo, i also want to unreservedly and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, inconvenience and embarrassment my decision to announce resignation last Saturday caused. After careful consideration, I could have handled things better and this will be guiding experience for me going forward.”
