The singer terminated her contractual relationship with Lynx Entertainment after eight years at the record label in September last year.
Although the move caught many by surprise, it was rumoured, months before the announcement, that she had a sour relationship with her colleagues at the record label.
In an interview with TV3, the 27-year-old singer dismissed rumours that she felt threatened by two of the record’s signees; Kwame Eugene and Kidi, stating that she was very happy at Lynx Entertainment.
“These boys are so sweet, they’re like my younger brothers. I was never threatened. Honestly speaking I was glad they came on board because it kind of felt lonely. You know I started with a girl group and all of a sudden it was just me so the switch was like okay…It was fun times for me
“I didn’t leave Lynx, I left music. I gave up on music two years ago, it’s very emotional you know, I was super depressed. My mum will call me and she’s crying on the phone with me or she comes to see me and she’s crying with me because I don’t know how to handle myself. Being a musician is really lonely life at a point. You have all these people you hang with and you have all these people who say I love you but at the end of the day you don’t know who truly loves you, it’s really strange. I love Lynx,” she stated.
According to her, the phase she was in affected her relationship with work which made her want to pause and ‘rethink certain things’.

MzVee indicated that the constant advice from her industry friend, Efya, caused her to rise back to her feet.
The singer did not mince words in describing the female artistes in the music industry as ‘not together’. According to her, with the exception of Efya, she wouldn’t have had anyone to talk to about being depressed.
“A lot of people go through this and people don’t know this because they’re in the limelight and they don’t want to come and say this is happening with me. They’ll feel some type of way about it so they just keep quiet.
It was a problem cause I realized the females in the industry there was really no one I could talk to aside Efya. Trust me the females in the industry we wake up, do our thing and go back home, we’re not together like the guys are so it was really tough but Efya, I’ve always looked up to her, she’s become like a sister to me so she’s one person who really helped me,” she added.
With all these happening, the ‘Natural Girl’ hitmaker said she has been working behind the scenes and will release a new single titled “Sheriff”.
