Afriyie Akoto bids farewell to beloved mother

She left behind a legacy of dedication to duty and love for humanity.

The family and friends of Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, 2023 flagbearer contestant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, and the entire New Juaben Traditional Area will gather to pay their final respects to Madam Gladys Adjepong, affectionately known as Teacher Gladys, a revered matriarch and educationist.

The 96-year-old mother of Dr. Akoto, immediate Minister for Food and Agriculture, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 19th May 2024.

The one-week observation will be held on Saturday, 29th June 2024, at the family house, Srodae, opposite the Omanhene’s Palace in Koforidua.

The day’s events will begin with the pouring of libation at 6:00 a.m., followed by a church service at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral at 8:00 a.m.

Thereafter, the family, friends, and sympathizers will gather at the family house to continue the one-week event.

The date for the final funeral rites will be announced at this event.

The late Madam Gladys Adjepong was a teacher by profession and touched countless lives through her teaching and community service.

People from all walks of life have been paying glowing tributes in her memory.

Dr. Akoto described his mother as “a true pillar of love in the community whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come”.
