The Allied Health Professionals of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have temporarily suspended their industrial action following an engagement with the National Labour Commission.

The health professionals are demanding the appointment of a member of the association at the director level to manage their affairs instead of medical doctors.

The Allied Health Professionals, made up of 23 different health professionals, last week served notice to embark on strike if the Ministry of Health refuses to grant their request of breaking away from the leadership of the medical doctors.

This prompted the National Labour Commission to intervene.

“Henceforth, we are going to demand for anything that the health sector presents, and this is good for the country because when we are treated well, it will boost our motivation to deliver our best for patients,” he hinted.

The leadership is urging members to resume work on August 6, 2024.
