Former President John Dramani Mahama perceives the state of Ghana’s economy might be worse than the government is currently reporting to citizens.

He says he is going to go through the books and present the true state of Ghana’s economy to the people if elected.

According to him, many of the things he is promising to undertake if elected, are dependent on the state of the economy, something he says he won’t lie to Ghanaians about.

Speaking to residents of the Upper Region as part of his campaign tour, John Mahama, after promising to revisit certain projects his government started and have been halted by the current administration indicated that he is going to be truthful to the people all the time.

He feared the economy might be messier than being presented.

“There are a lot that we are going to do but what I promise you is that we are going to tell you the truth at all times. We are yet to go into government, I’m sure we’ll go and meet a messed economy, that we know, but maybe it’s worse than we thought it would be but when we come, we are going to look at the books and we are going to tell you what is in the books and tell you what the state of the economy is,” he assured.

He also promised to complete the asphalt overlay of the Tamale – Bolga highway to provide comfort for commuters on that route.

John Mahama also promised to revisit the Bolga Airport which his erstwhile administration secured land but was abandoned by the current administration.
