The President of the Ghana Football Association, Simeon Kurt Okraku has urged the country’s U20 Women team to rewrite the narrative as they prepare to embark on their seventh consecutive U20 world Cup tournament.

According to him, Ghana is not new to the global stage in that competition; however, the narrative is not very pleasant.

He, therefore, encouraged the Black Princesses to give the country a better and well-deserving narrative that would set a record.

“Our story is already known to Ghanaians. Our history is already known to the world. We want to make a better story or write a better story. We want a much-improved history to be made. That should be the end vision as we leave Ghana,” he said during a dinner meeting with them on August 12.

The FA boss assured them of all the needed logistics and assistance to make their participation in the tournament smooth.

Wishing them well ahead of their trip to Colombia, he lectured them about the potency of cohesion in achieving their collective aspirations.

“Once we believe in ourselves, once we stay together, like I’ve always said, to all our national teams, once we are very supportive of each other in the most difficult moments on the pitch, and once we fight and play as a team, we can go all the way.”

“This is the belief and trust each one of you must have in yourselves. When things get tough, that is the moment you need each other more. You need to stay together and work together. And when that is done, I’m absolutely sure that we will change our story.”

Ghana are housed in Group E alongside Austria, New Zealand and Japan.

The U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup will kick start from August 31 to September 22, 2024
