2024 Manifesto Launch: Napo commits to Bawumia and NPP’s Vision

At the official launch of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto for the 2024 elections, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, reaffirmed his unwavering support for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Prempeh, who serves as the running mate to Dr. Bawumia, highlighted the strategic vision and leadership qualities that he believes make Bawumia the best candidate to lead Ghana into a prosperous future.

Reflecting on a conversation with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2021, NAPO revealed the President’s confidence in both Bawumia and himself as the future of the NPP. “President Akufo-Addo told me in 2021 that he could only leave the party to three people and include Bawumia and I, Napo. He said he wanted to make sure that we hand over power to ourselves,” NAPO stated, emphasizing the trust and continuity within the party’s leadership.

Dr. Prempeh also took the opportunity to commend the efforts of party members in the Western Region, who claimed to have spent considerable time engaging with chiefs and the local populace. “I have been everywhere with the chairman and secretary, and you are all doing a good job,” he acknowledged, rallying the party faithful to remain committed as the election season intensifies.

Asserting that the NPP is poised for victory in the upcoming elections, Napo assured supporters that Dr. Bawumia would hit the ground running from day one. “When Dr. Bawumia assumes office, he promises he will take no honeymoon,” NAPO declared, underscoring the party’s readiness to continue the developmental agenda initiated by President Akufo-Addo.

Highlighting the significant achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration, particularly in education, Dr. Prempeh noted, “Your successes in Education have been very significant. When Akufo-Addo assumed office in 2007, 40,000 BECE candidates could not access their results because they couldn’t pay their school fees.” He credited the President for defying the odds and delivering on his promises, despite skepticism from detractors.

Dr. Prempeh also praised the administration’s handling of the energy sector, recalling the “five years of dumsor” under previous governments. “Not only have we kept the lights on, even under trying times the light has been on,” he remarked, affirming the NPP’s commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for all Ghanaians.

Expressing his strong belief in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, NAPO described him as “a man of vision and a man on a mission,” who possesses the humility, wisdom, and integrity needed to take Ghana to the next level.

“I know Bawumia is not corrupt and would not be corrupted. In his public life, he has never been corrupted, and he has never been investigated for corruption,” NAPO asserted, vowing that Bawumia would continue the fight against corruption if elected.

In a call to action, Dr. Prempeh urged the party to remain united and focused as they prepare for the December 7 elections. “We will fight from room to room, house to house, village to village,” he declared, vowing to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians and to uphold the legacy of President Akufo-Addo.

As the NPP gears up for what promises to be a fiercely contested election, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s message was clear: the future of Ghana is bright under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the NPP is ready to continue its transformational agenda for the nation.
