Kusi Boateng’s Wife Involves in Corrupt Deals at YEA – Manasseh alleges

In a shocking revelation, Anita Kusi Boateng, the Board Chairperson of the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) and wife of the controversial General Secretary of the Akufo-Addo Cathedral Board, has been implicated in supporting corruption within the Agency. This exposure is detailed in investigative journalist Manasseh Azure’s latest book, “The President Ghana Never Got.”

Azure’s investigation uncovers that Kofi Baah Agyepong, a young appointee by President Akufo-Addo to lead a state-owned agency, is entangled in a corrupt deal that has already cost Ghana over 3 billion Cedis. Despite the clear unethical nature of the deal, powerful and influential businessmen are backing it.

The board of YEA is divided on this issue. While Mr. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the NPP MP for Tafo Pankrono, and Ms. Lawrencia Ahema Adams oppose the corrupt contract, a majority of the board members support it for reasons that remain unclear. Among those in favor are Pius Enam Hadzide, the Asuogyaman NPP parliamentary candidate; Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Local Government Minister; Dr. Eric Yeboah of KNUST, who has ties to Osafo Maafo from the NPP’s 2017 administration; and Mrs. Anita Kusi Boateng herself.

Mrs. Kusi Boateng’s involvement is particularly controversial given her connection to Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, who has faced allegations of double identity fraud exposed by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Manasseh writes:

“A young man appointed by Akufo-Addo to head a state-owned agency, Kofo Baah Agyepong, is facing a corrupt deal that has already cost Ghana more than 3 billion CEDIS.

He is convinced the deal is unconscionable, but the businessman behind it is powerful and influential. Two other members of the young CEO’s board (Mr. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the NPP MP for Tafo Pankrono and Ms. Lawrencia Ahema Adams) are against the corrupt contract, but a majority of the board members, for some unknown reasons, support the shady deal.

The board members who support the corrupt contract include Pius Enam Hadzide (Asuogyaman NPP parliamentary candidate), Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah(Local Government Minister), Dr. Eric Yeboah (of KNUST who has worked with Osafo Maafo when the NPP came to power in 2017) and the board chairperson, Mrs. Anita Kusi Boateng (the wife of the General Secretary of the National Cathedral Board, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng/Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, the man embroiled in allegations of double identity fraud exposure by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa).

The young CEO, with conviction and conscience, fights all manner of powers in order to oppose the deal, and when he fails, seeks support from the most powerful people in the government.

He goes to the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, who agrees with him that the deal is bad and should not pass. Mr. Kan Dapaah assures him his concerns will be addressed.

“It will never happen,” Mr. Kan Dapaah told me of the deal (the author) after meeting the CEO.

Kofi Baah Agyepong also goes to see Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, President Akufo-Addo’s cousin. Gabby Okyere-Darko leads him to the Office of the President and he receives audience. (Gabby Otchere-Darko confirmed this to me in a recorded interview for this book.)

But even before the young CEO gets to the Office of the President, President Akufo-Addo has already been briefed about this corrupt contract through his wife. The First Lady left the meeting with a brown envelope containing a detailed write-up about the corrupt deal. The envelope was meant for the President.

Ladies and gentlemen, this corrupt deal is still passed despite the appeals this young CEO makes to the most powerful people in the Akufo-Addo administration, including the President.
