The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing, led by its National Youth Organizer George Opare Addo, has condemned what it calls an unprovoked attack by New Patriotic Party (NPP) operatives on NDC members in the Ahafo Region. According to the NDC, the incident took place on September 7, 2024, when NPP thugs allegedly stormed the home of the party’s former Constituency Chairperson. During the attack, Masawudu Suleman, the Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer for the NDC, was reportedly assaulted.

In a strongly worded statement, the NDC Youth Wing accused the ruling NPP of orchestrating violent attacks in the run-up to the December 2024 elections, fearing an impending defeat. The statement warned that the NDC is now “officially in defense mode” and will not tolerate any further provocation.

Opare Addo issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Ahafo Regional Police to arrest those responsible for the attacks. He further warned that if the police, which he claimed had been infiltrated by NPP loyalists, failed to act, the NDC Youth Wing would retaliate with “full force.”

The statement emphasized that any further aggression from NPP elements would be met with a swift and decisive response from the NDC. In the meantime, all NDC youth members across the country have been urged to remain on high alert and prepared to defend themselves.

As tensions escalate, the NDC Youth Wing’s stance reflects growing concerns over political violence in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, raising fears of potential clashes between the rival parties’ supporters.
