Torgbiga Amenya Fiti Calls For Peace And Unity Ahead Of December Elections
Torgbiga Amenya Fiti urged members of the newly inaugurated association to endeavor to obey the bylaws governing the association and to strive to be ambassadors of change and development in their community.
The Paramount Chief and President of the Aflao Traditional Council Torgbiga Amenya Fiti V, has stressed the importance of peace and unity before, during, and after the December 2024 general elections.
According to him, the upcoming elections were a crucial moment in the political landscape of the country, requiring all Ghanaians to embrace peace, unity, and tolerance which are key ingredients to ensure that “our dear country Ghana remains peaceful during and after this crucial elections on December 7.
Torgbiga Amenya Fiti said these in a speech read on his behalf by Torgbi Kpambi Vedzesu V, Senior Divisional Chief of Teshie-Aflao and head of Ga settlements in Aflao during the inauguration and fundraising ceremony of the Akame Youth Association at Akame near Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
He said Ghana was a beacon of hope to many nations on the African continent and elsewhere on the globe, requiring that “we learn to tolerate divergent views and to refrain from the use of foul language in our political discourse to continue to be that shining example for other countries to emulate.”

He bemoaned the growing phenomenon of the youth resorting to alcoholism and the use of hard drugs, which he observed had the potential of ruining their future, and called for a change in the status quo, urging the youth to hold only onto what was good and beneficial to society.
Assemblyman for Akame, Wilfred Kwabla Dakunya commended the founders and leaders of the association for their foresight, urging them not to rest on their oars but to continue to work hard to achieve the association’s set goals while pledging his support in any way possible to ensure the realization of those goals.
President of the Akame Youth Association, Louis Leonard Dogli, said the association was formed to forge a united front to tackle the myriads of challenges facing the Akame community.
He said the devastating effects of last year’s floods which had displaced several families and destroyed farmlands, taking a toll on the livelihoods of the residents birthed the association which intends to raise funds to initiate self-help developmental projects to give the community a facelift and to support the affected families cope with the aftermath of the floods.
Dogli bemoaned the apparent neglect of the community by the authorities during the disaster and appealed for swift action to avert similar happenings in the future.
