In a bold move to reinvigorate Ghana’s economy, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) flagbearer, Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, has announced a groundbreaking plan to grant every Ghanaian GH₵20,000 in shares.

Speaking at an event, she said the innovative initiative aims to create a partnership between the government and citizens, empowering Ghanaians to co-own national assets and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Rationale Behind the Promise

According to her, Ghana’s economic growth has been sluggish in recent years, hence the promise to involve citizens in the economic development process.

By giving citizens shares in state enterprises, the CPP seeks to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among Ghanaians.

This move is expected to stimulate economic activity, promote entrepreneurship, and reduce poverty.

She said the shares would create a partnership between the government and citizens, allowing Ghanaians to have a stake in state-owned enterprises, adding that by owning shares, citizens will be empowered to contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Also, she said the plan will be executed through the local government system, ensuring that everyone receives their share from their local government.

Nana Frimpomaa has also pledged to raise $20 billion in her first year as president, further emphasizing the CPP’s focus on economic growth and development.
