Mahama presided over dumsor for 4yrs; he can’t run away from his records – Mark Assibey Yeboah

Former Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, has aimed at former President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of overseeing four years of debilitating power outages, commonly referred to as “Dumsor,” during his time in office.

Dr. Yeboah asserted that Mahama cannot distance himself from the power crisis, which he says had a profound negative impact on the economy and the livelihoods of many Ghanaians.

Dr. Yeboah emphasised that the Dumsor crisis under Mahama’s administration from 2012 to 2016 led to the collapse of numerous businesses, job losses, and general economic difficulties for citizens.

He argued that the severe disruption caused by the crisis remains a key blemish on Mahama’s leadership record.

Dr. Yeboah stressed that the crisis significantly tarnished Mahama’s credibility, and should be a critical issue in the 2024 elections.

He insisted that Mahama’s attempts to downplay the lasting effects of Dumsor in recent political conversations cannot erase the clear and undeniable records of how it impacted the country.

Urging Ghanaians to critically assess Mahama’s leadership, Dr. Yeboah highlighted the importance of evaluating his track record, particularly on issues like power management.

He called on voters to focus on tangible results rather than political rhetoric when considering their choice for leadership in the 2024 elections.

“Mahama has a record and he cannot run away from his records and we have to remind the Ghanaian people that he presided over Dumsor for four years.

Under his administration, 32 take or pay power agreements were signed that to date, the government is still facing its consequences,” he stated.

He was speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on Wednesday, September 25.
