Just look for the umbrella to vote, if you look at faces, their ‘juju’ will work on you – Adongo on 2024 polls
The NDC says the only thing Ghanaians should check during the voting should be the logo of the party, which is the umbrella.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Ghanaians not to look for any number or human faces when casting their vote in the December 2024 elections.
The NDC says the only thing Ghanaians should check during the voting should be the logo of the party, which is the umbrella.
During the campaign launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, stated that looking for faces might tempt them to vote for the wrong candidates.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is capable of changing people’s faces on the ballot to create confusion for them to vote for candidates they were not intending to.
He explains looking for faces might change people’s minds and create confusion to be voting for others, reemphasising the need to only look out for the umbrella.
“Don’t be looking for 1, 2, 3, 4. If you go and start looking at the names and you see Bawumia you’ll get confused and vote for Bawumia. So don’t look at their faces, look for the umbrella.
“Otherwise, you’ll go and look at somebody’s face and say that ‘this is a handsome man o, this handsome man and I’m not voting for him?’ Look for the umbrella. If you look at their faces, their ‘juju’ will work so you look for the umbrella, they cannot fight juju with the umbrella. Look for the umbrella, whether it is number 2, 8 or number 20 umbrella is always an umbrella,” he admonished.
He also added that the likes of himself, Alhassan Suhuyini, Clement Apaak and a couple of lawmakers from the northern part of the country were all mentored by the former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, including Murtala Mohammed, who is contesting in Tamale Central.
He therefore urged that they extend their love for Haruna Iddrisu to Murtala and vote for him and John Mahama in December to ensure the government gets the required majority in Parliament to govern.
“If you like Haruna Iddrisu, then you cannot send Hon. Haruna Iddrisu to Parliament without his able lieutenant, Hon Murtala to come and serve him. If you vote for the NPP [PC] and you decide that you love John Mahama, what you have done is that you’ve tied the hands of John Mahama in the back and you’ve sent him to the ring to go and fight. They will beat him and he will come back. So if you like John Mahama, then send Murtala to go and assist him to run the Ghana that we want,” he urged.
