Ghana to Host 2025 International AIDS and STI Conference

Ghana has been selected to host the 2025 International AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Conference of the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) after a highly competitive bid.

The 23rd edition of the conference will begin on December 3 and end on December 8, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre and is expected to draw global leaders, community, researchers, advocates, and healthcare professionals.

The conference will be leveraged to further Africa’s fight against HIV/AIDS, STIs, Hepatitis, Malaria, TB, and emerging viral infections and strengthen Africa’s Health systems, a statement issued by the Society said.

“ICASA 2025 in Accra will be a pivotal moment in advancing Africa’s health systems towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global goal of ending new HIV infections by 2030 and advancing the AU Agenda 2063.”

“Since its inception in 1989, SAA has been at the forefront in providing a global platform for Africa’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. ICASA has become a landmark event, bringing together thousands of delegates from across the globe to share insights, research, and strategies to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic and emerging viral diseases on the African continent.”

According to the Society, Ghana’s selection demonstrates the country’s exceptional dedication to addressing HIV/AIDS challenges in the West African sub-region.

The Conference was last hosted in 2023 in Harare, Zimbabwe and drew over 8118 delegates from over 105 countries.
