Afenyo-Markin sues 17 people for destroying his billboards at Winneba

The incident occurred about three weeks ago where five billboards belonging to the MP were pulled down by persons alleged to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader, has sued 17 persons in the Effutu constituency for destroying billboards displaying his image and that of the flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The incident occurred about three weeks ago where five billboards belonging to the MP were pulled down by persons alleged to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the writ filed at the Winneba District Court Thursday, October 03, 2024, the plaintiff indicated that the five billboards costing GHC100,000.00 were destroyed by the defendants on September 12.

The plaintiff is therefore praying the court to make the defendants pay the GHC100,000.00 being the cost of the billboards and award any other damages for the unlawful destruction of the billboards.

He is also seeking the court to prevent the defendants from getting close to any property belonging to him henceforth.

Several posters were also destroyed in the process leading to tension in the area.
