Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, Ghana has been running a different West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) schedule due to the impact on the contact hours of students at the time.

The Service has since been implementing a transitional calendar to revert to the May/June era and sit together with all other WASCCE member countries.

“The re-opening date is purposed at ensuring that the school calendar starts in September next year and pave the way for the final year students to write their 2025/2026 WASSCE in May/June,” it said in a press statement.

While in the next two years Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will take its form in June, the 2025 WASSCE candidates will sit for the exam from July to August while 2026 candidates will sit for it from May to June.
