Speaking to the press after his 2-0 defeat to Sudan which saw Jordan Ayew confronting goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi at the Benina Martys Stadium in Libya on October 15, he noted that such confrontations were preferred to backbiting.

“And sometimes, to be honest, teams need this to grow. Sometimes I like it better than talking behind somebody’s back, you know, to be direct and straight. If somebody didn’t do this or that or if somebody has the feeling, there and there could be things which could be better, then they have to say it because this is what makes us better.”
The Black Stars are third in the Group F with two points. They are behind leaders Angola (who hold 12 points) and then seven-point-wielding Sudan who require just a point to qualify for the tournament. Meanwhile, Niger sits in the base with one point they got from facing Ghana.

Ghana’s next game will be against Angola away from home. Anything short of victory will dash hopes of qualifying for the tournament.

If Ghana fail to qualify, it will go down in history as the first in 20 years.
