The Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is set to engage the youth on his plans to create jobs and reduce the spiralling unemployment rate in the country.
The engagement under the banner “Bawumia for Jobs” will take place on November 3, 2024, nationwide, his communication team announced in a statement.
“The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will engage the youth of this country on Sunday, 3rd November 2024. This event will afford the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party an opportunity to outline his Plans for Job creation to the youth of Ghana.”
It continued, “At the centre of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Policy propositions for the Next Chapter of Ghana’s development is ‘Job creation’, and the details will be outlined to the good people of Ghana at the event.”
The event will be broadcast live on all major media outlets and social media platforms.
Dr Bawumia made the headlines when he asserted earlier this year that his government has created 2.1 million jobs in both the private and public sectors of the economy between 2017 and 2022, an achievement he said is unprecedented.
“The public sector recruited 1.2 million people while the private sector created 975,000 jobs (per SSNIT data). We recruited 100,000 more health workers, 100,000 more teachers, more than doubled the fire service personnel,” he said during his address at the University of Professional Studies, Accra on February 7.
