NDC MPs Vow to Occupy Majority Side in Parliament Until Mahama’s Inauguration in 2025

“The Supreme Court is supposed to be a judicial wing, not an extension of the NPP headquarters,” Ablakwa stated. “Ghanaians are fed up with politically motivated decisions, and as a parliamentary caucus, we will defend the independence and integrity of Parliament.”

The Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament, led by MPs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (North Tongu), Samuel Nartey George (Ningo Prampram), and Abla Dzifa Gomashie (Ketu South), has pledged to occupy the majority side of Parliament from October 22, 2024, until former President John Mahama is inaugurated on January 7, 2025.

Speaking at a National Democratic Congress (NDC) RESET WALK in Ketu South, the MPs expressed their commitment to defending what they view as the true will of the Ghanaian people. They criticized the judiciary for alleged politicization, particularly referencing recent court rulings on vacant parliamentary seats, which they claim reflect undue political influence.

Ablakwa emphasized that their stance is more than symbolic. “This commitment to occupy the majority side is not a short-lived act. It begins on October 22, 2024, and will continue until John Mahama is sworn in. He needs a solid Parliament with MPs he can rely on.”

Abla Dzifa Gomashie, affectionately known as “Mamagah,” also underscored the importance of a strong NDC presence, saying, “President Mahama needs both men and women he can count on in Parliament. For Ketu South, I will stand with my colleagues to ensure our caucus’s strength.”

Samuel Nartey George added a rallying call for all 275 NDC candidates to win their constituencies, stressing, “For President Mahama to deliver on the promises we’ve made, he needs a strong and unified Parliament behind him.”

Concluding her remarks, Dzifa Gomashie praised her fellow MPs, Ablakwa and George, for their dedication to Ghana’s democratic integrity. “On behalf of the NDC parliamentary caucus, let’s join hands with Ablakwa and George to bring back President Mahama and RESET GHANA,” she urged.
