Ghana to Host Africa Oil Week 2025: Pioneering Investment and Innovation in the Energy Sector
Ghana’s selection as the host underscores its growing influence in Africa’s energy landscape and its ambition to become a leading hub for energy investment.
Ghana will host the prestigious Africa Oil Week (AOW) summit from September 15-18, 2025, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, marking a critical moment for the continent’s energy industry. The AOW conference – a gathering of global energy stakeholders, will place Africa at the center of global energy discussions, aiming to accelerate resource development and enhance investment opportunities across the continent.

Jointly organized by the Ghanaian government, AOW organizers, and the Africa Prosperity Network, the summit will focus on African priorities such as monetizing hydrocarbons, integrating transition fuels like gas and hydrogen, and exploring new energy sources. The event’s programming reflects a commitment to addressing African interests and the evolving energy market.
In a televised address, President Nana Akufo-Addo expressed Ghana’s excitement in welcoming AOW to Accra. He noted that the move from Cape Town to Accra highlights AOW’s evolution and dedication to serving Africa’s energy needs, calling the 2025 summit a “watershed moment” for a trusted brand that has served the continent’s oil, gas, and energy sectors for over three decades. The President also thanked Sankofa Events and its Ghanaian CEO, Paul Sinclair, for their efforts in bringing the summit to Ghana.
At the event’s press launch on Wednesday, Minister of State responsible for Energy, Herbert Krampa, emphasized Ghana’s commitment to hosting an international conference that will bring together African ministers, national oil companies, and regulatory bodies.
“Our mission is to make AOW the foremost energy dialogue on the continent, setting the stage for transformative discussions and partnerships that will shape Africa’s energy future,” he stated.
CEO of the Ghana Petroleum Commission, Egbert Faibille Jnr., highlighted the significance of the event, noting Africa’s potential to harness its resources to meet global energy challenges. He emphasized that AOW’s presence aligns with the Commission’s goal to strengthen Ghana’s upstream potential and create a framework for sustainable development.
CEO of Sankofa Events, Paul Sinclair, expressed pride in bringing AOW to his home country, calling the conference a unique platform for advancing Africa’s energy narrative.
“This event is about taking control of our energy destiny, setting new standards, and driving Africa’s story forward,” he stated, adding his gratitude to the Ghanaian government for their unwavering support. He also acknowledged the Africa Prosperity Network for their partnership, underscoring the summit’s potential impact on Ghana’s business tourism and investment climate.
