Election Update: Mahama Leads in Ahafo Region

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, at exactly 4:30 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024, addressed the media to provide an update on the ongoing collation of results from the December 7 elections.
Flanked by her deputies and members of the commission, she urged Ghanaians to remain patient as the final election results will be declared within 72 hours of the last vote being cast. “It has only been 23 hours since the polls closed,” she reminded the public, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to conducting a meticulous collation process.
Mensa acknowledged the presence of national and international election observers, expressing gratitude for their role in ensuring transparency. She also addressed growing calls from political parties and the public for the early declaration of results, clarifying that while political parties may have access to some figures, the commission remains steadfast in its dedication to a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
Results So Far
Based on preliminary projections, former President John Dramani Mahama is leading in the Ahafo Region with 130,106 votes, while Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has garnered 113,851 votes. These figures represent a snapshot of the ongoing collation process and are expected to be updated as more results are received.
