‘Victory for democracy’ – U.S. vows closer partnership with Ghana’s President-elect Mahama

The United States has extended its congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect John Mahama on his electoral victory, emphasising a commitment to deepening the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

In a statement issued by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the election was hailed as a triumph for democracy and a reflection of Ghana’s resilient democratic values.

“We look forward to working closely with President-elect Mahama to carry our historic relationship into the future,” Secretary Blinken stated, signalling Washington’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with Accra under the new administration.

The statement also celebrated Vice President-elect Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for making history as Ghana’s first female vice president.
