Bawumia allegedly walks out DG of NIB over Fake National Security Polls

The defeated candidate of the New Patriotic Party and the outgoing Vice President of the Republic Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was in his erratic best last week when he chased away the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, Nana Attobrah Quaicoe from his office for feeding his campaign with fabricated report about the NPP’s chances of winning the 2024 elections.
Reports suggest the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, was barred from meeting Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday during a visit to the office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s unsuccessful presidential candidate.

The NIB is reported to have lampooned the ambitious Vice President with cooked reports of have a superfluous chances of winning the 2024 Presidential election ahead of his rival, President John Dramani Mahama contrary to what all credible polls predicted.

Reports indicate that Bawumia refused to grant an audience to the NIB DG after discovering discrepancies in the poll figures provided by the NIB Director.

The NIB boss allegedly misled Bawumia into believing he was leading in the polls, only for the election results to show a significant victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate.

Leading up to the election, the NIB reportedly shared poll results with Bawumia indicating his lead in four different polls.

However, former President John Mahama emerged victorious with a record margin of over 1.6 million votes. Feeling deceived by Asomani, Bawumia reportedly expressed his frustration by turning away the NIB boss during his visit to the Vice President’s residence.

Attobrah purportedly visited Bawumia’s office with the intention of shifting blame for the NPP’s loss onto personnel who conducted polls using the National Security’s ‘kobo collect’ app.

These polls, conducted between February and November 2024, underwent multiple screenings to filter out perceived unfriendly personnel, leading to biased results favorable to the NPP.

Those who attempted to report the truth about Bawumia’s potential defeat were reportedly removed from the assignment.

Allegedly disregarding established protocols in personnel recruitment for the polls, Attobrah’s actions led to inexperienced operatives conducting unprofessional assignments.

In the midst of the fallout, there are reports of intense lobbying for the position of NIB Director-General, with names such as Philip Eddico, Muhammad Kpelle Guba, Alexander Awudu, and Alhassan Kipo being suggested as potential candidates even before the new government takes over.

Attobrah was appointed as the Director General of the Bureau following recommendations from, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, affectionately referred as the un-official ‘Prime Minister’ of the the Akufo Addo government, alongside Edward Asomani, both of whom were recruited from the influential Dankwa Institute, a think Thank linked to the NPP.
