President Mahama Courts Business Community’s Support for 24-Hour Economy Vision

President John Dramani Mahama has passionately appealed to Ghana’s business community and private sector to support his administration’s ambitious 24-hour Economy vision.

President Mahama is convinced that the 24-Hour Economic model is the surest pathway to job creation, industrial growth, and foreign investment.

Addressing the country after his swearing in, Mr. Mahama touted the vision of a 24-hour economy not only as a mere economic metric but a symbol that will foster empowerment and inclusion.

“The 24-hour economy model will also bolster job creation for the young people, stimulate local industries and attract foreign investments, and allow us to build resilient communities and a sustainable future. This vision extends beyond mere economic transactions. It symbolizes empowerment, the empowerment of every Ghanaian to contribute to our national progress,” he noted.

To achieve this goal, the new president therefore extended a heartfelt invitation to the private sector and captains of industries to throw support behind the flagship 24-hour economy initiative to ensure its success.

He said, “To the business leaders and entrepreneurs, I invite you to support this new 24-hour economy model and join me in shaping a business environment where creativity thrives and where the fruits of your investment contribute to the collective welfare of our nation.”

In return, President Mahama assured the business community of his plans to rationalize the country’s tax regime to ensure transparency, fairness, and business-friendliness. He further recognized and applauded the contribution of the business community in driving growth and innovation.

He indicated, “your role in driving our economy forward cannot be overstated. Your innovation and dedication will be a backbone of our success story. And I pledge to you that we will look at the tax regime and rationalize them so that they are more transparent and fair.”

The NDC’s 24-hour economy is a plan to keep businesses and services running around the clock, allowing economic activities to continue day and night. This model aims to create more jobs for young people, boost local industries, attract foreign investments, and support a variety of lifestyles and cultures.

It seeks to empower every Ghanaian to contribute to the nation’s growth while building strong, inclusive communities and a sustainable future.
