Osafo Maafo’s Son under Scrutiny at NCA over Misuse of Official Vehicle

Director of the Cyber Security Division at the National Communications Authority (NCA), Kwadwo Gyamfi Osafo Maafo, is facing public scrutiny over allegations of misusing his official vehicle.

According to an internal audit by the NCA, concerns have been raised about the whereabouts of a brand-new Toyota Fortuner assigned for his work-related duties. However, Mr. Gyamfi Osafo Maafo has allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the situation.

Sources close to the matter allege that the vehicle has been handed over to his wife instead of being utilized for its intended official purposes. The issue has sparked concerns over accountability and proper resource utilization within the NCA especially under the just ended Akufo-Addo administration.

Kwadwo Gyamfi, who is the son of former Senior Minister Nana Yaw Osafo Maafo, was appointed to his position at the NCA during a period when there were growing concerns about overstaffing in the civil service. Despite these challenges, he is reported to have expressed confidence in maintaining his role at the NCA indefinitely, reportedly boasting that he would retain the position “until the casket.”

The development raises questions about governance and ethical standards within public institutions.
