Widow, Businessman chase McDan over stolen lands

...after NPP defeat

election2024

Businessman, Dr. Daniel McKorley, popular known as MacDan, has been stripped naked of his alleged land stealing activities in Accra, following the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the last general elections.

Daniel McKorley, who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan Group, allegedly used his strong connections with the then ruling NPP to forcibly take over prime lands from their rightful owners, and no one dared challenged him for his nefarious activities.

However, with the fall of the NPP in the last elections, people have started coming out to demand their properties.

Two victims

Already, two persons — a widow and a businessman— who are victims of the McDan’s land grabbing activities, have come out to expose him , and have decided to pursue all legal means to retrieve their lands.

The widow, Madam Theresa Paintsil, and the businessman, Charles Oppong Kyekyeku, both own the plots of land at Lagos Avenue, near KFC, East Legon.
Documents show that Madam Theresa Paintsil’s land originally belonged to her late husband, Dr Nicholas Geraldo who died in 2012.

Indeed, before his death, Dr Geraldo had gone through the due process of owing the land, and upon his passing, Madam Theresa Paintsil took ownership of the property.

Also for Charles Oppong Kyekyeku, he secured title to the land before McDan trespassed.

Illegal entry

Without the knowledge of Madam Theresa Paintsil, McDan entered the land and started developing it. All efforts to have him stop the illegal development failed as he used his political connections to threaten the widow.

In 2015, he prepared a Settlement Agreement, which Madam Theresa Paintsil refused to sign. In the agreement, McDan was to pay a paltry GHc 200,000 to the woman as cost of the land, which at the time was valued at $500,000.

Since then, all attempts by Madam Theresa Paintsil to get McDan to vacate the land, including seeking police and Legal Aid intervention proved futile.

Both the widow and the businessman are pursuing legal actions against McDan on the matter.
