Fighting Covid-19: Tosen Development Association donates to Community
Tosen Development Association consisting of sons and daughters of Tosen – a farming Community in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth Ghc 10,000 to the Community and other institutions in the locality to help fight the spread of the novel coronavirus in the area.
The donations which include 200 surgical nose masks, 350 pieces of hand gloves, 350 pieces of locally made nose masks, 10 Veronica buckets, 200 pieces of alcoholic based hand sanitizers, 20 chairs, among other PPE was presented to the Chiefs and people of the Community and other institutions like the Anum Salvation Army Clinic and Boso Health Center. The ceremony took place last Sunday at the palace of the Nifa Division of the Boso Gua Traditional Council in Tosen.
In an Interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh, Akyea Eklemet, the Vice Chairman of the Association explained that they as sons and daughters of the community deemed it fit to contribute their quota towards the fight against the novel coronavirus and to make sure their motherland is secured from the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Educating the community on the virus Dr. William Gyau Dwamena urged the natives to strictly adhere to the social protocols as laid down by the President to help contain the virus.
“The measures include wearing of face mask, hand washing with soap under running water, frequent use of alcohol base hand sanitizer, frequent observation of social distance, avoidance of social gathering, these i believe if strictly observed will curb the virus from spreading,” he stated.
Receiving the PPE on behalf of the community, Nenye Bafo Amoyaw I, the Kyidomhene of Tosen expressed gratitude to Tosen citizen for their kind gesture to see their people home protecting themselves from the deadly epidemic.
The Nifahene of Boso Gua Traditional Council and Tosenhene Oboasor Asare Kwadwo VII, who was visibly overwhelmed by the donations promised to distribute the PPE accordingly.
He outdoored a five member Covid-19 Pandemic task-force committee mandated to educate residents on the pandemic, receiving and distributing PPE donations on behalf of the community as well as enforcing the safety protocols in the community.
