So far, between January 3, 2021, to date, Ghana has recorded over 2,600 new cases. Luckily for the country, out of the 2,600 plus new cases recorded this year, about 2, 200 have recovered so far.

Health workers are calling for the government to tighten the social distancing protocols to stem the rising caseloads. They complain that the hospitals are filling up with new cases.

It is believed that Ghana’s second wave may have been triggered by the wild public gathering during the political campaigns run-up to the December 7, 2020, general elections, as well as the celebrations during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
