The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has chastised Members of Parliament (MPs) who failed to avail themselves for the Covid-19 test organised by Parliament for Members. The House was informed last week that a medical team from NOGUCHI will be coming to test Members. Some Members however failed to take the test.

A directive from Speaker Bagbin and read by the first Deputy Speaker Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu on Thursday warned some Members who have also tested positive and still come to the House to desist from that. The directive further instructed that those who have tested positive should be isolated and not come to Parliament.

The Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Osei Kyei- Mensah- Bonsu revealed that about 52 Members and Staff have not yet tested for the virus. In his view, the situation was worrying and has called on Members of Parliament, Staff of Parliament and the Media to do so immediately.

The Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka said the results of all Members tested should be made available to the Members and not only those who have tested positive. He also indicated that Leadership from both sides should be given the list of those Members who tested positive to them so as to get them notified and enforce their isolation if need be.
