Conspiracy to commit High Treason: ACP Agordzor, 9 Others granted bail again
Eight out of ten persons charged with conspiracy to commit High Treason have each been granted bail in the sum of two million cedis with two sureties to be justified.
As part of their bail condition, they are to report to the Director of National Intelligence Bureau twice a week and also deposit their passports at the Court Registry.
The other two, ACP Dr. Benjamin Agordzor and Colonel Samuel Gameli who have both been charged with Abetment, were each granted one million cedis bail sum with two sureties, one to be justified.
They have also been ordered to deposit their passports at the registry of the court and report to their Commanders on specific days.
The court presided over by Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe asked the prosecution to file disclosure for case management conference on the next adjourned date which is May 25.
The accused persons who were on bail were re-arrested yesterday by the National Intelligence Bureau.
They have all denied the charges. Our court correspondent Yvonne Asare Offei reports that Attorney General earlier filed a Nolle Prosequi to discontinue the charges of treason against them. She reports of tight security at the Court’s premises today, from the entrance to the second floor where the case was heard.
The Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame speaking to the media after court proceedings today commended the Chief Justice for scheduling the court to sit on a Saturday to hear the case.
