I got to know of Persib Bandung after the signing of Michael Essien – Ahmed Rashid

Persib Bandung midfielder Mohammed Bassim Ahmed Rashid has revealed he got to know the Indonesian club following the acquisition of Ghana legend Michael Essien.

The Chelsea legend joined the Indonesian top-flight side on a one-year deal back in 2017.

However, according to the club new signing, he didn’t know the existence of the club until the signing of the Ghana legend.

“I remember Persib when they recruited Michael Essien. At that time, it became a very big (viral) conversation because all the news and social media were busy talking about it,” said Rashid on Persib’s YouTube.

The 26-year-old Palestine-United State player joined Persib Bandung in the ongoing transfer window.

He signed a one-year deal with the club and is expected to play a key role for the club in the upcoming season.
